ACTING is in the blood for Cambridge Spies star Rupert Penry-Jones.

Rupert, who plays super-spy Maclean in the BBC 2 drama, comes from something of an acting dynasty. Both his parents and his younger brother are in the business.

His mother, Angela Thorne, played Daphne in the 80s comedy Three Up, Two Down, his father, Peter, recently appeared in controversial drama, Shipman, and his brother Laurence, is currently starring in BBC 1's daytime series Doctors.

He says a close-knit family is something he has in common with Maclean. "I suppose the family is my common denominator," says the actor who once dated Kylie Minogue. "It's very important to me and would always take priority. There are four of us, myparents are still together and we're all very close. Laurence is seven years younger than me, but we go and see everything that the other is in."
