Can Adam save Fiona from the clutches of her cruel ex-husband?

Team leader Adam prides himself on being cool enough to handle the most stressful situation. But his emotions are pushed to the limit when his wife Fiona is kidnapped be her violent former husband.

Fiona’s ex is a Syrian secret service officer named Farook. He is determined to force her to return to the Middle East with him and Adam has to race against time to save her.

“Adam is more experienced and hardened than his colleagues” says Rupert enry-Jones who plays the charismatic MI5 officer. “But he is also a family man and very protective of Fiona and their son, Wes.”

In the seventh of the 10-part series, Fiona goes undercover to help arrange a possible coup in Syria. But she also has her own agenda for taking the mission. Years before, her marriage to Farook soured because he couldn’t have kids. Farook became violent, but Adam saved Fiona.

“He wanted to turn Farook into a double agent, but ended up falling in love with Fiona” adds Rupert, 35. “Farook discovered their affair and beat Adam so badly he almost died.”

Adam got revenge by framing Farook, making it look like he was an Israeli agent. It was believed Farook had been executed, but Fiona now learns he’s alive. Feeling this will only end when one of them is dead, she lures him to the UK so she can settle it on her turf. But the operation goes badly wrong…

In real life Olga Sosnovska, who plays Fiona, is leaving the series to have a baby. Co-star Rupert knows all about the demands of bringing up young children. He has a daughter, Florence, with actress Dervla Kirwan, 33.

While Rupert was filming Spooks in London, Dervla was hundreds of miles away in Newcastle, shooting her police drama series 55 Degrees North. “We had a child minder during the day and I’d take over in the evening” says Rupert, who lives in London. “I didn’t get a lot of sleep, but Florence is an absolute joy and I’m really proud to be her daddy.”
